9 year old won the Indonesian jazz festival in Odessa



At the end of the first International Festival of jazz improvisation in Odessa won the 9-year-old Joey Power (Joey Alexander Sila) from Indonesia. He received the Grand Prix competition.

Boy playing only three years. For the first time his father bought him a mini-keyboard when Joey was 6 years old. When he first started playing on her musical phrase of "Well you needn't" (Thelonious Monk jazz piece).
But since 9-year-old jazz musician has performed and collaborated with leading Indonesian musicians and some European artists, among them - pianist and composer Indra Lesmana, trombonist Benny Likumahua, jazz pianist Idang Rasjidi and others.


"Master-Jam Fest 2013" was held from the 5th to the 8th of June and it was attended by more than 40 brilliant improvisers from 16 countries (Cuba, Russia, Austria, Ukraine, Israel and others). Played in various jazz styles - swing and bebop, ballad, jazz, rock and funk, Latin jazz and fusion.
